Statistical analysis was carried out in 2010 to identify whether attending the 'conquer exam anxiety' seminar helped university students to improve their exam performance.

Students were divided into two groups: those who took the seminar, and those who did not. For each student, the average exam mark for 2010 was divided into the average mark obtained by the same student in 2009, giving a simple percentage for every student.

The average score for students who took the seminar was 110%, whereas the average score for those who did not was 91%.

In other words, students who attended the seminar performed on average 19% BETTER than those who did not attend.

Statistical analysis (using the T-Test) concluded with 99.5% certainty that: "On average, students who attended the seminar showed significantly better exam performance than those who did not attend."

Mark Heller is a university maths lecturer, a qualified Actuary and Financial Adviser, and a trained therapist.

Mark graduated with a first class Honours degree in Mathematics, and then quickly qualified as an Actuary – a profession generally acknowledged to be one of the most academically challenging, with the toughest exams and lowest pass rates.

Mark has been running performance management courses with university students for over 10 years, and in 2006, he developed a series of seminars to help trainee actuaries pass their exams more quickly.
